The Octave Navigator

Operator, SYLBiT pulled a melody out of the uplink, but it's pure chaos without Octave Numbers. A "C" isn't just a C. A "C1" rumbles; a "C8" pings. Sync the coordinates so the fragment stops glitching.

The Border Rule

In the Scientific Pitch Notation system (standard usage), the octave number ONLY increases at C. It does NOT change at A (the start of the alphabet).

The Anchor: Middle C (C4)

In music software and theory, C4 is usually the center of the universe. It's called Middle C because it sits right in the middle of the Grand Staff (and the piano).

Identification Tip:
If you see a note that is just "C", assume it's C4 until told otherwise.
C3 is "Low C" (Cello range). C5 is "High C" (Soprano range).

Target Acquisition

Your goal in the Frequency Lab is to specific targets. Use your ears and eyes.

  • Octave Hunter: Find the exact coordinate (C3 vs C4).
  • Pitch Duel: Train your ear to hear "Higher" vs "Lower".
