The Accidental Squad
Operator, Sharps aren't working alone. SYLBiT queued the full team of pitch glyphs, known as Accidentals.
What are Accidentals?
In music, an "Accidental" isn't a mistake. It's a symbol that modifies the pitch of a note. They are the glyphs that rewrite pitch.
Meet the Squad
There are three main operatives you need to know.
SHARP (#)
Raises pitch by 1 semitone.
FLAT (b)
Lowers pitch by 1 semitone.
NATURAL (♮)
Cancels other accidentals.
The Sharp (#)
As we learned, the Sharp raises the note. It pushes it UP to the next key (usually a black key).
- Effect: +1 Semitone
- Vibe: Brighter, Higher, "Spicy"
The Flat (b)
The Flat is the opposite. It pulls the note DOWN to the next key to the left.
- Effect: -1 Semitone
- Vibe: Mellow, Lower, "Deep"
The Natural (♮)
The Natural is the "Reset Button". If a note was Sharp or Flat, the Natural symbol cancels it and returns it to the white key.
🎯 Minigame: Sharp Shooter
Now that you know the squad, let's focus on identifying the Sharps correctly.
